Happy Full Moon plus three Green Days this week
The Full Moon in Capricorn occurs on Aug 15 @ 12:29 pm UTC / 1:29 pm BST / 5:29 am PDT / 10:29 pm AEST
The full moon is also a Green Day in the Conscious Calendars system (which does not always happen). Notice how the full moon is midday in the UK and Europe and peaks in the morning for Eastern Time and West of that? That means the moon will appear fullest on August 14 for Europe, Canada and the Americas, while Australia and friends will bask in the glow of the almost fullest moon on Thursday August 15.
You can tap into the Full Moon energy at night or while the moon peaks at your location. See below for the practices you can do at any time of day to harness these forces of light and healing.
Earth Full Moon
The bright and FULL energy of every full moon is used for social and outward activity for up to six days before and after each full moon.
August’s full moon happens to have a super packed week of energy with three Green Days August 13, 14 and 15 with the full moon on August 15. So, this week has plenty of energy for everyone to shift personal routines, get organized and reach out and connect for fun, work or in your spiritual community.
This full moon in Capricorn occurs in a place called the ‘star of symphony’ and this moon is often connected with the drum beat and rhythm of the Universe. Listen to the rhythm of your daily life, the rhythm of the season, the beat to which YOU dance. Say Yes fully to what is in your life and show up for yourself, family, work and spiritual life – after you have looked over your daily routine and life.
You are being directed to plant your feet in a new direction or firmly RE-choose and re-commit to where you are living, working and with whom you are in relationship. How can you choose your daily routines and adjust them so that you can experience them and be successful? I am talking about serious nuts and bolts everyone – what is your waking routine like? Does it support your body, soul, mind and work? What is your breakfast, lunch and dinner like? Are you clearing the kitchen and dishes and house each night and connecting with family or self at the end of the day? Are you preparing for the next day?
Basic success with physical routines which nourish the mind is where Capricorn energy can help you succeed. This Earth sign is connected with ‘meaningful work’ in the Vedic system and it also calls us all to take a look at how we are caring for the body and home which supports our mind and spirit.
So, have fun this summer (if you are in the northern hemisphere) and dance into your spring by establishing new routines (if you are in the southern hemisphere).
From Water to Earth
In Vedic Astrology, the moon has moved from a water New Moon in Cancer constellation to an Earth Full Moon. This is a special time this year to “check-in” with yourself and make sure you are nourishing yourself as much as you are expending energy or having fun. See below to tap into the Earth energy that is completely aligned with this particular combination of New Moon to Full Moon for August.
This Earth sign full moon connects us with the powers of the Earth and Gaia (and with the eight Vasus, the solar gods of energy and light). This full moon brings insights and wisdom, and perceptions of truth.
Meditation during this full moon can bring you deep new understandings of how energy becomes matter in your life; of how your thoughts and vibration are connected with your choices and how you move through your days.
See below for more information on how to meditate or do the Moon Salutation during this full moon.
Dhanishta Full Moon
Natal Dhanishta Moon can bring fame.
Those born with this moon (those born with the moon in Dhanishta in Capricorn) can experience abundance and fame, but it is not a great Moon to have for marital relationships. Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe both had this Moon in their natal charts. From Dennis Harness’ ‘The Nakshatras’.
It is a great moon for creativity because this moon also supports clearing the slate and recycling which clears fear and gives the ability to focus on the task at hand.
August is about to heat up
We are just about to really start gathering momentum in August. Many people are still recovering from the eclipses in July and Mercury Retrograde because Mercury just went direct on August 1st and we had the New Moon on August 1st. So if you still a bit tired or over stretched, be gentle with yourself – it has only been less than two weeks since the forces of chaos and change (the eclipses) and jumbled communications (Mercury retrograde) have stopped tugging at you. Plus, we are IN the integration phase of Mercury Retrograde from August 1 – 15 (I talk all about it in the videos I made for Annual Subscribers this month).
The moon is building in brightness right now – pulling us to be more ‘outward’ and have fun and celebrate (for those who’s summer is coming to an end).
Right after the full moon we get two more shifts! Venus and the Sun change constellations on August 16 and 17.
Those shifts by the end of the week are really going to heat things up. So nourish, nourish, nourish if you are exerting more energy on fun or projects right now.
I talk all about this and how August fits with the coming Golden Zone and how to use the month in the Astro videos that all Annual Conscious Calendars Subscribers get.
Plus, there’s is a full moon ritual to help energize and ground you in the Annual Members August Astro Forecast Page that is super simple.
Full Moon Aligned actions:
– Perform Moon Salutation Yoga at night to welcome calm vibrations and cool the mind from August 13 – 15 this month.
Earthing or Grounding to balance your electrical body and energy field.
Easy way to Earth: Go outside as often as you can and ground by connecting with the Earth. If you can, lay one the Earth (on a towel if you need) and allow your hands or feet to touch the Earth and grass.
Or try stepping on to the dew laden grass in the morning in your bare feet. The electrical balance and charge you receive is incredible!
(There is a reason the exiled Jews made mannaa bread from the dew that gathered in the desert – it was a rare water source and contained a different vitality.)
Full Moon and Moon Salutation Yoga
This Earth sign full moon connects us with the powers of the Earth and Gaia (and with the eight Vasus, the solar gods of energy and light). This full moon brings insights and wisdom, and perceptions of truth. Meditation during this particular full moon can bring you deep new understandings of how energy and matter interact. And how your ideas can become real or a physical reality.
The word Chandra means ‘moon’ in Sangskrita. Chandra Namaskar is the Moon Salutation meant to align you with the nourishing forces of rest and repair of both body and mind.
The Moon Salutation aligns you with all the healing elements of the moon, especially when performed at night August 13 – 15 2019 after a light shower and putting on clean cotton clothes. (You can practice the moon salutation on each full moon that is not caught up in the lunar eclipse which occur 2 – 4 times a year. Those are the Mega Red Days that Kathleen shows you ahead of time, so you can plan your travel and time with family and spiritual practices at a glance.)
In the northern hemisphere, we are well into the summer season and Pitta and heat is at its highest. The moon and all things associated with the moon (including true moonstone) bring cooling and calming elements to body and mind.
In the southern hemisphere, I suggest performing more sun salutations in the morning to help your body ‘warm’ up in your cooler spring, but moving slowly as to not over strain the joints.
In Ayurveda and Vedic Astrology, the moon is said to be the force which brings the healing forces to all plant life on Earth. There is more about the Moon Salutation and the alchemical forces of the moon in this blog post of mine.
Moon Salutation – Chandra Namaskar
(One note about the asanas above: Try to have your forward knee 90 degrees to the ground when you do the Half Moon Pose, this will lessen the strain on your knee.)
How Kathleen is using this Earth connected Full Moon to re-commit
For instance, I am re-committing to my morning routine which is filled with a gathering of practices. For instance, each morning I:
- Open the day with a Sun Salutation (at least 3)
- Mantras (Clearing, honoring of the new energy and beginnings, planetary mantras, Peaceful mantras, Mantras for light and insights, prosperity mantras).
- Stretching and and qi gong
- Sitting quietly after mantra or after yoga and stretching depending on the day.
- Yogic eye exercises to maintain focus and eye health.
- Having our usual, vibrant morning smoothie. At the same time, I have re-committed to a new level of care for my body with either a daily walk and/or a work out or weeding in the garden. Re-committing to the routines which keep our house and garden clear and in rhythm and it is giving back to us in both pocket book (saving money because we are doing so much yard work), with bounty from the garden and in experiencing pleasure when I just ‘sit’ in the morning and at the end of the day.
