New Moon in May
This New Moon is in a fire sign with the Sun in a powerful constellation of leadership! We can use the energy of fire to get things done in our lives and look at our personal time management and project management skills. It is time to learn some new approaches to your own project management while learning how you can be a better leader.
Sun in Aries
Those born with son in Aries have a natural leadership ability.
Depending on what house that Sun in Aries falls determines if they are an introverted or extroverted leader. (Even those quiet Sun-in-Aries folks have a presence where people listen to them whether they believe it or not.)
The Sun is in Aries according to Vedic Astrology each year from approximately mid April to mid May. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and when the planet of leadership and heat and pitta, the sun, is in the fire sign of Aries – there can be some natural ability to think quickly, see what needs to be done and implement the plans or actions to get the project finished.
Some quiet types who have Sun in Aries are often very quick minded, and would rather ACT (a pitta thing) than talk about it. They are the ‘walk with me’ kind of leaders, and those who would rather stay focused on action steps rather than talk about theory too much.
In 2019, the New Moon occurs on May 4 @ 10:45 pm UTC / 11:45 pm BST / 6:45 pm EDT / 3:45 pm PDT / May 5 8:45 am AEST
The energy of May encourages you to carve-out super short tasks that build your focus, your time-management skills and your confidence
The new moon in this fire sign says that it is time to learn how to prioritize your time so that you can be efficient and share your best qualities.
If you are a coach or consultant or health care giver – less if more sometimes. Giving more time, advice or services is not always helpful. Each person must digest the information or actions you give them.
USE the quickness of the month to change how you work with clients. For instance, if a coach or consultant or teacher were to give their clients or students carefully chosen, small action sets that lets them finish the task quickly… this will motivate the person to take the next set of actions. This also build confidence for ourselves when we breakdown large projects into those bite-size tasks that is part of taking the overwhelm out of any BIG thing.
Small tasks move everyone forward on a project whether you are a beginner, spiritual leader or movement maker. We all put our pants on, one leg at a time. So, hone-in on either ONE goal you want to have finished by the end of each day or focus on finishing three small tasks each day for the next two weeks.
Building Compassion is the mature use of the Fire Element
When we ONLY focus on what we are getting done or what someone else is doing – this is actually a violent use of the energy of fire. It is too narrow-minded on the act itself. When we witness that someone has a talent, or that despite a difficult deadline or project that they ‘kept calm’ or kept persevering – that builds connection, trust because we are not commending someone for what they DID but rather how they were. When we focus on our BEING we can still be effective – rather I would say that the most effective teams are not focused solely on actions, but witness each other for their talents, their grit, their wit, their humanness!
The research shows that the MOST EFFECTIVE teams have positive regard for each other, listen to ideas and reflect them back, as well as keep positive.
So, when the new moon is in FIRE we are being asked to do two things – carve out our work and tasks, leadership, self-care and meditations to smaller time periods to stay focused and align with the fiery energy which might feel like impatience at times.
All while also witnessing your human emotions, your frailties and that you might need to take more breaks during the month of May to stay on track, ironically.
We can be present with others and their pain while at work without losing our sense of boundaries when we remember that we all are either in some form of pain or that we have walked through fire and pain at some point in our lives before.
Make a list each day and stay super focused – the Aries energy helps us all take shorter, small actions and be successful. Don’t let overwhelm take over- ask yourself “What is the ONE thing I can do right now that I can complete in the next 10 minutes. Or ask “What is the highest priority thing I can do?” And just work 10 – 15 minutes on it. and then pat yourself on the back. And stand up and do another 10 minutes.
RED DAY
Saturday May 4 is a Red Day. One of two mild Red Days of summer – or days of rest. The New Moon in the first fire sign – the beginning of the zodiac gives extra energy to all things we BEGIN and initiate this month. The element of fire means plans can burn out quickly between May 4 – May 14 unless we add extra focus and love to what we are building. The element of fire needs to be fed to stay alit – so we nurture with small, actionable tasks to keep things moving.
