The New Moon was in Aquarius according to the Vedic Sky map – which is the same map as what astronomers use. Looking to the sky, the New Moon was in the constellation Aquarius.

Aquarius being an air sign inspires vision, is a sign of communication and of revolutions.  When we speak or sing we send our message through the air, smoke signals and sending messages of Morse code with flashes of light, too are all forms of communicating through the element of air.
