Total Solar Eclipse April 8, 2024 Will Shadow the United States
Last Total solar eclipse in the U.S. for 20 years
This bodes well for America, which has seen a series of total solar eclipses ‘shadow’ that help stir difficult karmas for the nation. It’s a very good thing for the U.S. because total solar eclipses stress the land, animals, plants, and animals where it shadows.
People often do not see the effects of a total solar eclipse until the years that follow it. But where an eclipse shadows must be tracked for years, which is the job of a mundane Vedic astrologer like Kathleen Whalen and Conscious Calendars.
Mercury Retrograde During the Eclipse – Mega Red Day
All Planets will be direct all year until Monday, April 1, 2024, when Mercury goes retrograde. Mercury appears to retrogrades starting on April 2 for everyone.
Did you know that 90% of the time, Mercury will be retrograding during eclipse season?
It is because Mercury is so close to the Sun, that it will appear to retrograde during one or both eclipses. There are two to three sets or pairs of eclipses every year.
This Mercury retrograde occurs with Mercury, the planet of communication at its weakest. Plan on correcting little mistakes in your emails, double check your notes if you transcribe or copy anything and even triple check yourself!
And double check appointments. People often have more distractions during eclipse season, and little dramas or challenges can arise. This will either affect you directly or you will know people who have a little more of a wild time with this particular Mercury retrograde and they will need to constantly be rescheduling through mid April.
Mercury Retrograde April 2 – 24. By the full moon on August 23 we will feel the relief as that is when Eclipse Season ends too!
Astro 101: Mercury retrogrades in Aries, at 3 degrees in Ashwini Nakshatra.

Eclipse Viewing SAFETY & Tips
Safety is VERY important when viewing solar eclipses. You could damage your eyes and vision permanently if you do not view a solar eclipse correctly. – Kathleen Whalen, M.S.
Solar Eclipse Safety from NASA:
Safety is the number one priority when viewing a total solar eclipse. Be sure you’re familiar with when you need to wear specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing by reviewing these safety guidelines.
Quick facts and tips from NASA:
We can’t normally see the corona – The Sun’s outer atmosphere – because the Sun’s surface below it is so much brighter. But during a total solar eclipse, the corona becomes visible, offering unique opportunities to study it.
When the Moon finally COMPLETELY blocks the visible surface of the Sun during a total solar eclipse, viewers can remove their solar safety glasses. A total solar eclipse is the only type of solar eclipse where eclipse glasses can be momentarily removed.
When a solar eclipse reaches totality, nocturnal wildlife sometimes wakes up, thinking it’s nighttime, and non-nocturnal wildlife might think it’s time to head to sleep!

Recent History of Solar Eclipses across the United States
Image below of the Great American Eclipses that occurred on October 14, 2023 and April 8, 2024.
2017 Total Solar Eclipse across America
The eclipses fanned the flames of division and anger starting with the total solar eclipse in fall of 2017, when the most controversial president presided.
The effects of that solar eclipse were predicted to continue to affect the U.S. for 4.5 years because of the length of eclipse. We can see that the global markets and the pandemic had a majority of its negative effects through the end of 2021.
2023 Total Solar Eclipse – Great American Solar Eclipse
The October 2023 Total Solar Eclipse shadowed all three Americas, North, Central and South America.
The April 8, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse shadows central and North America into Canada.
Stress on the Land, people, animals, and water sources of the U.S.
For example, a prior total solar eclipse that shadowed the United States was in August 2017. It shadowed the entire U.S., beginning in Oregon and ending in the Southeast. It shadowed the U.S. for over 4 minutes.
We know that the United States went through some of its most divisive and contentious periods in the 4.5 years following that solar eclipse.
We are looking at stress for the land, people, animals, and water for just under 4 years. This is because of the rule of Vedic Astrology that I explain here.
The total solar eclipse passes from Mexico to Montreal and Texas to Maine in April 2024.”

BEFORE the Eclipse
Start now, take easy steps towards eclipse day.
What is your ideal way to start your day? How do you want to start your day? Start taking steps, no pressure, towards that ideal start to your day. This could be spiritual practices of your choice, meditation, yoga, walks in nature, etc. Your choice.DURING the Eclipse
What you do on an eclipse day has a 100,000 fold effect when it is related to your spiritual self. So, what do you want to build in your daily practice?
During the eclipse, when you are singing mantra or meditating, place natural fabric over your head and shoulders. For instance, silk, wool, hemp, cotton. Sit on wool during meditation / mantra is very grounding and is good for daily practice too.
- Intention at PEAKI of an eclipse are for your health and spiritual practices, not for worldly or creative acts like for relationships, love, making money. It is NOT a day to set an intention for gain. Focus on your commitment to your spiritual practices and health of your soul.
- Meditate the night before the eclipse, when you wake, and at peak eclipse time.
- If you are NOT in the shadow of the eclipse meditate before bed and upon waking.
- Say mantra of your choice, or, repeat words of your choice
- Colors to wear this upcoming Monday eclipse: Yellow, or Robins egg blue or other soft pastel color.
