Positivity is Contagious
Did you know that your online emotions are contagious, especially happiness?
“Researchers at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, used software to examine the emotional content of one billion Facebook posts over two years—particularly on rainy days, when the chance of negative posts was generally higher.
Using weather records, they were able to see that gloomy rainy-day emotions were transmitting through the Facebook network to friends who lived in places where it wasn’t raining. The good news?  Even though researchers were focusing on negative emotional contagion, they found that positivity is even more contagious.
Negative posts prompted about 1.29 more negative posts from friends, while positive posts prompted an average of 1.75 more positive posts.” says Courtney Seiter
Your actions affect people you don’t know ~ think about that
This means that with each positive message you send that you are going to impact the people in their lives as well. Don’t believe you do? See the Info-graphic below.
Isn’t that simple and amazing?
60 Seconds of Daily Action – Build a network
Will you commit to trying to send a note of praise or appreciation to one person per day for the next 7 days?
If you are willing to try this, go to my Facebook or Instagram Page and say YES in the comments.
Then write a short note of appreciation to a friend or colleague, and the ripple begins.
I would love to hear from you.
Here’s my Twitter Page. Join me and spread positivity in any of these places.
Plus, there is research that also shows that success FOLLOWS when people are content, happy and have lives of meaning.
So, just like oxygen on a plane – focus on your happiness first.
Hint: Happy people are also disciplined, build social networks, have ways they find ‘flow’, enjoy challenge and work hard too.
More on that in other posts and the Prosperity Mantra and Leadership program I am going to share with you in March.
Happiness is Contagious
I actually wrote this post for @Garyvee since he started to send more positive texts and wanted to thank him. So, I wrote this post and linked to it from my Twitter account, so that I could share the positive info with my peeps.
Take a look at this diagram. It is surprising to see who we have an affect upon – we affect our friends’ friends more than our own spouse! How wild is that?
The next time you decide not to say “Hi” to your neighbor, realize that you could really make their day. No pressure. And isn’t it incredible how much your smile could lift someone else’s day? Even if you are not feeling particularly sunny, social interaction, like a nod, will help you and your neighbor. So, go ahead and smile – your happiness is contagious. That might just put a spring in your step.
