June solstice arrives every year, and marks the turn around of SOLAR LIGHT OF THE YEAR!
The days begin reversing in length after solstice wherever you live.
If you are in the northern hemisphere, the longest day of the year is summer solstice in June and then the days begin to get shorter, day by day until Solstice in December.
If you are in the southern hemisphere, the shortest day of the year is your winter solstice in June, and then the days begin to get longer, day by day until Solstice in December.
SOLSTICE 2017: In 2017, June Solstice is June 20 (June 21 in the southern hemisphere).
So, where ever you on Earth, June and December Solstice are celebrations of LIGHT!
These celebrations of light are related to the Sun, and the length of time we experience DAY, or of solar light.
All the while – every single month – the Moon is waxing or building in light and waning or decreasing in light over a lunar month.
The Vedic Calendar is a solar-luni calendar taking into account both the energy of the length of light in the days, the amount of light of the Moon and the angle between the Sun and Moon, as just ONE factor that is tracked daily to understand the energy of the day.
When we act in alignment with the energy of the day, we experience less resistance and have more energy to fulfill our activities of the day – which leads to success, ease and happiness.
Acting in alignment with the energy of the day leads to success because we will not be wasting time or energy by starting a new activity or project at the wrong time…for instance, if the natural cosmic forces are for resting, clearing or destroying on a day, it would be futile to try and start something new or significant on one of those days.
This system has been used by kings, mayors and great leaders and used to plan and execute building entire cities, temples, and monuments in India and the East for many thousands of years. The principles are actually founded in Astronomy and Astrology and meticulous scientific notes and studies are abound to help craft how to ACT for highest level of alignment and success for “outward or commercial and celebratory events” (associated with building and making things) or for “inward events” ( associated with spiritual development or healing).
In 2017, the Moon is decreasing in light towards the New Moon on June 23rd, so there is a combination of outward celebration feeling from the SOLAR energy, and an inward coalescing and self-care tug from the LUNAR energy at the time of Solstice. (In 2016 the FULL MOON and SOLSTICE occurred on the same day – it was beautiful and intense, and expansive. 2017’s solstice is a little more balanced.)
