The Full Moon is in Aries with the Lunar Eclipse
Rahu, Moon, Jupiter retrograde, and Uranus retrograde are all in passionate, short-term focused Aries. The full moon is in one of the most auspicious lunar mansions, Ashwini.
We have a different type of healing lighting up in our lives around October 28.
The theme of the full moon and eclipse is asking you to take a look at your obsessive habits, and where you in your life you want ‘results right away’. Just like the healing twins of Ashwini, challenges in our lives arise to help us grow, improve, and evolve when the lunar eclipse is in Ashwini.
Notice if you have some impatience, extra drive, or want to push in an area of your life. That is what is your personal theme for the eclipse and asking you to ‘cool down’, especially October 27 – 29.
Directly opposite the full moon, we have the Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Libra. Mars and Mercury are both so close to the Sun, that the qualities get ‘burned’ from being of great use. Emotions, Impulses, and Drama Around a Lunar Eclipse
The world can feel crazier as we near a lunar eclipse so its even more important to choose peace, kindness, and reason around lunar eclipses. Emotions, irritation, or challenges often increase in frequency as we approach lunar eclipses and remain escalated during the entire eclipse season because the Moon gains in light and intensity.
Don’t Jump From The Cauldron Into the Fire
You can get through those 3 days from Oct 27 – 29, 2023, and wait to make a choice. Waiting is often the BEST option around an eclipse – otherwise, you will be jumping from the cauldron into the fire when you give into desire, fear, or anxiety and make a quick decision like signing a lease, buying a house, deciding to move, or make other major decisions in those 3 eclipse days.
How can you ‘be with the discomfort’ and fear and still make a healing choice by doing some healing practices each day?
What to Do on October 28th the Lunar Eclipse Day (29th in Australia and New Zealand)
- Fast or
- Eat light meals, soups, fresh fruit and vegetables. Skip meat for the day if you can or choose.
- Meditate
- Say mantra
- Stretch, move slowly, cultivate calm
- Pick up home before the eclipse so you can be in an organized space that settles your mind, heart, and soul.
- Commit to daily routine which might include any of the following: time in nature or a walk, yoga, qi gong, stretching, journaling, meditation, silence, mantra, dance, simple strength exercises.
- Take a media break. Decide to not read the news, look at your phone or go on social media for one day.
Cultivate Inner Peace
It is actually harder to cultivate peace around lunar eclipses, so when you take actions that bring calm, you are actually increasing your karmas and patterns of Peace exponentially!
This is a secret of Vedic Astrology. When you choose to act in reverse to your impulses, you actually build greater patterns of peace and positive karma in your life. This is why the eclipses are so important for your spiritual success. When you reverse unhealthy habits and do not give in to desire, you increase focus, and acquire a stronger, healthier aura.
“Desire” could be to consume news about the Israel-Gaza war, or read about tragedies.
You could have a desire for chocolate, buy, soda, cigarettes, or alcohol, or feel like you ‘must make that decision right now.’ The best remedy during eclipse week is to wait on all those ‘urgent’ things that you think need to get completed. Things will be much clearer after the eclipse.
The eclipse season is from Oct 1 – Nov 11, 2023, according to Vedic Astrology. WHAT you do on eclipse days is extremely important because what you do is amplified. The day is not for making an impact in the world, but to help you increase discipline, build your spiritual energy and reverse negative habits. Keep reading to see how to do this on eclipse days.
Try to see your personal emotional intensifying as a gift, if it occurs. We do not feel every lunar eclipse every six months as intense, but you might notice the emotional challenges if your personal Vedic Astrology chart is being activated for healing and growth.
When you choose NOT to act with anger or irritability and choose peace, you are helping world peace one tiny bit at a time with your choice.
Where in our life we feel unstable or where the emotional challenge arises, happens so we can see a spiritual pattern to heal.
The most intense time around the lunar eclipse is the 24 hours leading into it, and the night after the eclipse. People might act impulsively more on Friday, Oct 27 and 28, in particular.
Peace, Relaxation, and Healing
The challenge arises around a lunar eclipse so that we can learn about the nature of our mind. When you make a conscious choice to ACT differently, not RE- act to the world, you are evolving spiritually.
In the 24 hours of the eclipse or in the window of the eclipse try to:
- Say a Mantra or repeat an intention. (Say any mantra or peaceful phrase 108 times if you can).
- Say the Loving Kindness Mantra. “I am Loving Awareness“ over and over. or “I am Loving Kindness“
- Practice 10 minutes of deep breathing, yoga, qi gong, or stretching during the window of the eclipse, at the beginning and end of the day. Just 10 minutes of sitting quietly without music or stimulus, like reading or looking at your phone will bring you greater peace when you do it on an eclipse day.
- Pet an animal,
- Journal or write down your dreams each morning. Many people ask me what mantra to say during an eclipse. For those who know these mantras, Vedic Astrology suggests saying the Maha Mrtyun jaya mantra or the Gayatri Mantra 108 times in the middle of the eclipse window. You will naturally drop into a meditative state after this.Easy mantras you can say for 10 minutes or say 108 times during a lunar eclipse:
- Om.
- Om Namah Shiva.
- “I am loving awareness”
- Ave Maria
- Om Mani Padme Hung
You can also dedicate yourself in the eclipse window and commit to do calming practices each day. Here are some other ways to cultivate calm, each day. - Pet an animal, hug your children, or ask how others how they are doing, each day.
- Journal or write down your dreams each morning.
- Smile at the first 5 people you see each day.
Any of these practices or all of them will help you to find easier stability during eclipse season and especially around the lunar eclipse.
Eclipses Have Windows of Intensity
Emotions and energy really start to intensify in the 24 hours before an eclipse begins. Irritability, being easily distracted, and desires or addictions may become stronger.

Healing Eclipse
Since it is a lunar eclipse, this can be a healing eclipse when we Let Go of what is blocking us from our next stage of development.
Since this is the end or 3rd of 3 sets of eclipses in Aries and Libra, we are finishing a cycle of lessons and patterns from the last 18 months! I speak about the 18-month pattern in the Quarterly Course (Q4 Course).
Look around in your life – see what and where you are being stubborn or where you are being attached to keeping things the same where you have a great desire or focus and where you want to push to ‘make changes’. The Aries’s energy can be intense. Try to relax, take some deep breaths, and soften your focus with what or where your intense focus might be.
Ask yourself this question:
What if things are meant to happen differently than I currently imagine? What if there is another way? Can I take a deep breath and release my current desires or fixation on how I think things are “supposed” to or how I want them to occur?
You can heal your perspective of one area of your life – and the theme may bring you the lesson repeatedly – look for the pattern!
Sometimes we want to rip a band-aid off – or make a big change in an eclipse month. Be mindful, that you just might be running from discomfort. Or you might be emotionally avoiding or running from what you fear might happen. Notice your fears BE with them and be open to answers and solutions coming into your life – possibly just days after the eclipse. This is the challenge with a lunar eclipse. Try not to jump into changes around a lunar eclipse. It is not a time to make big changes or big choices, even though the eclipse is tugging you to ‘make a decision’. It is not true.
The Eclipse Season Can Stress Relationships
Notice what patterns are arising. Know that you can make a small step toward a healthier response and may stumble again – that is what the eclipses do – in challenging us, we get to see what our instinctive pattern is.
You can love yourself while watching an old pattern emerge – that is the first step to healing – just observing. Sometimes we need to be out of the stress or fray to make different choices.
So you can either make new choices towards harmonious relationships and patterns in October 2023 or you will have some distance on what your patterns were – to make healthier choices in the near future.
Remember, “You are always doing the best you can.”
