Mercury and Jupiter Retrograde in Fire Signs Dec 2023

Mercury and Jupiter Retrograde. Jupiter has been retrograde for a number of months already and thankfully it will be going direct on December 31st.  Celebration!

What does it mean when Jupiter is retrograde?

Mercury is also retrograde from December 13th through January 2nd.

First, let’s talk about Mercury Retrograde.  Mercury is the planet of communication, and the planet of details. It’s also the planet of change and gives us the ability to have resilience and flexibility.

Think of it as a wire. If  Mercury is associated with communication, it represents the wiring in our body. Our nervous system.

This Mercury retrograde is in a fire sign.  When a wire is in a fire sign, what happens?  We could get burned.  Our communications could get burned. In other words, we want to be very mindful in giving the myelin sheath to our nerves, but also the protection around the wire.

And we do that by being very mindful of what it is we think we know, what it is, and how we communicate. When Mercury retrogrades in a fire sign, there can be the short circuiting.   Short circuiting of your brain or your concepts.

As mentioned, this Mercury retrograde is in a fire sign but then moves back into a water sign.    It’s retrograding in Sagittarius and moves back into Scorpio on December 29th.    When it moves back into Scorpio, it will still be in retrograde for a few days.

And now, where did Jupiter retrograde?

Typically, Jupiter represents leaders, presidents, world leaders. Saturn, just FYI, represents the people. So, when Jupiter is retrograde a couple things go on. World leaders may not be seeing things as clearly as they could be.

But you, and your executive function, your brain, is why December’s theme is all about brain health. Because we’ve got Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius where things could short circuit.

We’ve got Jupiter in a super powerful place of Aries. Jupiter usually functions very well in Aries.  It is a planet of universal law, Jupiter in Aries is also a place of advocacy.  Sometimes not always advocacy for others, but advocacy, and this can be very good for long term universal law or what becomes justice.

Healing

Weaving this with what’s happening with Mercury, Jupiter is a planet of wisdom and knowledge.  When Jupiter is retrograde, we sometimes feel disconnected from our knowledge base.  This is asking you to observe yourself responsibly. You may have some incorrect concepts.  Either about yourself, how the world works, or what you’re perceiving.

As you investigate this, notice, are there ways that you have braced against love, or that you think you’re not lovable?  And as you spend time with yourself, there is this quality of being able to be in this beautiful way of cultivating a quality of truth and also in communication with self.

With the retrograde, Mercury retrograde, and Jupiter retrograde, the exciting part is that in these assessments, you are actually going through healing so that you can basically hit the ground running early next year.

January is so amazing! Jupiter will be direct on December 31st. So by January, even December 31st, you’re going to be feeling it.  On December 28th when Mars goes into Sagittarius, we are going to see some supercharged energy, some supercharged ability to want to charge forward.

Which is why December is so important to use for these deep healings that are happening. So listen in, feel your feels, listen to yourself, and create more intimacy with yourself. It’s a beautiful month.
